Sunday Brunch, it’s the biggest thing in Dallas since the Mavs won the NBA Championship. City socialites gather every weekend for a fun filled day of good food, music, and mimosas.
It has become so popular that many places offer brunch on both Saturdays and Sundays to accommodate its popularity. Whether you’re looking for the best brunch food or the best unlimited mimosas deal, look no further as the best of the best are presented below.
Mattito’s Tex Mex
Best All-Inclusive Brunch
Mattito’s offers the biggest assortment of unlimited hot and cold breakfast foods, Tex Mex foods, and mimosas (plus other, non-alcoholic drinks) that you have ever experienced. Who says you can’t have bacon and eggs with an enchilada, tamale, and guacamole for one meal? The available combination options are seemingly limitless! Dozens and dozens of brunch foods are laid out buffet style around a large part of the restaurant, protected in covered holders that are kept very warm and fresh at all times. In addition, they have an omelet station, waffle station, and a huge dessert bar with an assortment of cookies, pies, cakes, flan, and a chocolate fountain for fruit or whatever you want to dip in it. The environment is casual as some will arrive after church and some will arrive after rolling out of bed, so feel free to dress as you like. Reservations are recommended, but not required. If you have to wait, you can grab a mimosa at the bar, and it’s still included in your brunch price. Don’t plan to eat anything before or after your trip to Mattito’s; it’s a lot of food, and this is one brunch meal that will last you a whole day! Locations are available in Uptown Dallas, Las Colinas, and Frisco with brunch hours from 10:00am-2:00pm every Sunday, and the price is just under $18 per adult for unlimited food, drinks, and fun!
Nick & Sam’s Grill
Best Brunch To Be Seen
Nick and Sam’s Grill offers the best combination of food, mimosas, and atmosphere for the Uptown brunch crowd. Put on your weekend best, grab tip money for valet, and head to the NE corner of Cedar Springs and Fairmount. The large brunch menu
features appetizers, entrees, and everything in-between. The Hass Avocado Block is made fresh upon ordering with feta cheese and pico de gallo sprinkled on top that makes this combination an appetizer must-have. For entrée selection, their most popular brunch item is the Captain Crunch French Toast. Two large pieces of warm toast are hugged with finely chopped Captain Crunch pieces and topped with maple syrup and cinnamon whipped cream to make an unforgettable French toast experience. If you’re feeling thirsty, but tired of original mimosas, order the Bellini Carafe. Peach Schnapps and peach nectar are added to an original mimosa recipe resulting in a sweet peach flavor, stronger drink, and refreshed attitude. Each carafe will provide you with three good-sized drinks in a wine glass to avoid wait times experienced from ordering single drinks. Brunch runs from 10:00am-4:00pm every Saturday and Sunday. Wait times build quickly after an hour of opening, so go early or grab a drink and hang out while waiting; either way it’s a good time! Basking on the outdoor patio along a row of beautifully planted flowers during a sunny day provides the ultimate brunch experience at Nick & Sam’s Grill, but if unavailable, it also has an open layout for indoor patio seating, full indoor seating, and second floor dining available. Other locations reside in the Park Cities and Prestonwood areas in Dallas.
Best Chicken ‘N Waffles Brunch
Located in Oak Cliff in one of Dallas’ unique neighborhoods close to downtown, Jonathon’s operates out of a unique, old-style home that offers a laid back, quaint environment and is home to the popular “Build Your Own Bloody Mary Bar” available during weekend brunch. It’s also home to the most famous chicken and waffles in the state of Texas, or arguably, the nation. Many claim Jonathon’s chicken and waffles entrée rises well above the Roscoe’s version in Los Angeles. A golden brown, deep pocket waffle the size of the entire plate is served with a piece of boneless chicken on top that’s similar in size to the waffle! Homemade white peppered gravy is served on top of the chicken or in a side bowl at your discretion. The thought of waffle, chicken, and gravy together may initially cause hesitation, but it is nothing like you’d expect. The waffle alone is one of the best, the chicken is 5-star tasty, and the gravy is seriously good enough to drink alone like a milkshake, but when eaten together, you realize this chef’s creation puts him on the same level with Albert Einstein (if the chef was a physicist!). Jonathon’s is also well known for its homemade brunch food in general. As an appetizer, try their popular Danger Dogs (pancake battered sausage links served with a side of spicy mustard) or the Brunch Kabobs (sausage, ham, and bacon in a scrumptious coffee glaze). The best part is that breakfast is served all day during regular operating hours so no need to wait until the weekend to get your chicken and waffles fix. Jonathon’s is packed every weekend with loyal, long-term customers and fresh faces who have heard about it from friends, but brunch starts at 8:00am on the weekends until mid-afternoon, so add it to your list! Patio seating is available, and the atmosphere is as casual as you can get for Dallas brunch!
British Beverage Company (BBC)
Best Bottomless Mimosas Brunch
As one of Uptown’s newest restaurants, BBC hits the spot. Multiple places offer bottomless mimosas in Dallas, but only BBC offers a variety of flavored bottomless mimosas; regular (orange), peach, pineapple, cranberry, mango, and passion fruit. Each mimosa ordered arrives in a carafe, and, you may order different flavors at no additional cost. Enjoy all flavors of mimosas on Saturdays and Sundays between 10:00am and 3:00pm. There is live music every Saturday and Sunday during brunch hours on the west end of the patio, and it’s always a hit. Call ahead of time to see if your favorite local artist might be playing. The courtyard style patio is huge and perfect for any size party. The east end of the patio has ottomans with large, soft leather chairs perfect for groups of two and four to enjoy an outdoor lounge vibe. If the weather is less than desirable, the inside offers even larger space with seating in multiple rooms. The bar offers a long line of backless leather bar stools with a variety of music for great ambiance. Aside from the wonderful mimosas, the brunch menu offers a unique selection of delicious entrees. The ultimate grilled cheese sandwich can be experienced here! Also called the BBC Welsh Rarebit Grilled Cheese Sandwich, this phenomenon comes with grilled tomatoes, caramelized onions, applewood bacon, and a blend of Red Dragon white cheddar, smoked Gouda, and bleu cheeses served open faced on toasted sourdough bread. The salads are also rockin’, but a variety of delicious burgers, egg entrees, and waffles are available as well.
Best Brunch Food
is one of the most well known restaurants in the Metroplex, perfect for all ages and groups. Every meal offered is delicious, and brunch is especially the best. Its casual elegance draws all types of foodies and offers more brunch food than imaginable. Scrambles, French toast, benedicts, pancakes and waffles, casseroles, salads, sandwiches, soups, burgers, specialty entrees, tortillas roll-ups, and health-conscious options all have their own sections on the menu! Expect to be overwhelmed with fabulous choices in each of those categories that will make choosing one item nearly impossible. However, it satisfies all taste buds and will keep you going back time and time again until you have made a dent, or tried to, in having experienced the different entrees. Mimosas will run you a pricey $10 each, but the food is the core reason for visiting. The bakery is a must, so definitely consider stocking up on a few “to go” bakery goods on your way out. Plus, for special occasions they make deliciously rich cakes that are simply elegant and tasteful and offer catering popular among local Dallas businesses. Like most worthy Dallas brunch spots, Breadwinners is a popular spot on the weekends, so if you don’t like to wait, timing is key. Earlier is better to avoid wait times, but in the end, it’s always worth it! Breadwinners’ original location in the heart of Uptown Dallas offers indoor and outdoor seating that provides a charming yet relaxing atmosphere, but other locations are also available in Dallas with one in Plano.
Side Note: Brunch is the only meal that’s hard to research via online community forums such as Yelp. Many restaurants that perfect brunch have not done so with other meals, and online ratings are for all meal types, so they are skewed inaccurately when it comes to brunch. My advice is to continue reading personal brunch reviews and talk to friends for a starting point. Don’t forget your sunglasses; you will need them during your awesome patio brunches!
