Best Cheese Stores in Dallas
By Neve Winspeare

Molto Formaggio!

Located in Highland Park Village in Dallas, Texas, Molto Formaggio offers a true European shopping experience and specializes in exquisite gourmet cheeses from around the world. They offer boutique wines to pair with the cheese, exclusive gourmet food products, gift baskets, and trays for entertaining.

The concept for Molto Formaggio was born in Florence, Italy in the summer of 2006 emerging out of a love of shopping for fresh cheese, produce, meat, and fish in specialty stores that have a true European style. They felt that this unique shopping experience was missing in Dallas, hence Molto Formaggio was born out of this deep passion for sharing fine cheese, wine, and food. Although the shop is a second career, it is truly their first love.

Their mission is to find the finest cheeses, gourmet food products, and wines available and bring them to our customers. They love to travel… eating, drinking, and shopping…to deliver the best products the world has to offer.

Scardello is an artisan cheese shop focused on handcrafted cheeses and tasty accompaniments. They have about 150 artisan cheeses featuring American and European farmstead cheese, along a number of Texas cheeses.

What does that taste like? The only way to answer the question is to give it a try. Everyone enjoys different flavors, which is why everything in the case is available to taste. They want their guests to end their visit with a smile and the confidence that anything purchased is exceptional.

Mozzarella Co

Paula Lambert and the cheese makers at the Mozzarella Company, a tiny cheese factory located in the shadows of downtown Dallas, TX. The cheese makers chop curds, made daily from farm-fresh milk, which is then strung and formed by hand into balls of fresh mozzarella. All Mozzarella Company cheeses are handmade following centuries-old recipes, just like the cheeses used to be made in Europe

Spec's Wine, Spirits & Finer Foods

Owned and operated by the same Houston family since 1962, Spec's is a true destination shopping experience. Spec and Carolynn Jackson began their venture into the liquor business with a small store around 1000 sq ft selling pints and half pints of liquor. Over the years they diligently worked to open more locations and expanded to include larger bottles of liquor and then beer. In 1971 their daughter Lindy and son in law John joined the business upon college graduation. John and Lindy learned the business from the ground up and together the four put Spec's into the spotlight of the world. With the introduction of wines in 1974, John Rydman turned everybody's heads with the breadth of wine selection and pricing offered in Houston. John's love of all things wine is at the forefront of our wine departments to this day. Spec's entered the food business with po-boy sandwiches, crackers and cheese in the late '80's because customers asked and we responded. We haven't stopped since! In 1995, the business grew once more with the addition of third generation family member Lisa Rydman-Key. She and her husband, Hermen Key, are proud to be a part of such a fantastic history of family business. Today we have over 70 locations all over the great state of Texas. We proudly serve the communities of Houston, Beaumont, Austin, Galveston, Victoria, Temple, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Bryan-College Station. We offer the best selection of wines, spirits, beers, liqueurs, cigars and in our larger stores, fine gourmet foods.
